What a Web!

Finally back online here at Good Fibrations. I feel like I have been knocking on a glass door, seeing people inside having fun and not being able to get in. But we're back. And just in time. Good Fibrations is celebrating it's fifth year anniversary on August 25. To celebrate, we are introducing our first mystery knitalong. If you have never done this, it's a lot of fun. Here's how it workss.

We have a short questionairre that you will fill out and bring back. That will help me to determine which of 5 patterns to give you, each of which will be given out in peices - f in all. You must use yarn you bought here but it can be from your stash (save labels).

Pick up the first peice of the pattern after Sept. 1, choose your yarn and you're off and knitting! As you complete each peice, bring it back in to get the next piece of the pattern. Five peices in all, you will have until Jan. 31 2010 to complete the project.

In February, we will have a fashion show with all projects finished. I will have a professional critique your work, and give written feedback, then have that knitter do a program for the guild. For all this it will cost you only $15 to sign up.

In addition to the knit-along I have some other events planned and will roll them out as new yarns come in. Lots of exciting mohairs, yarns with longer dye runs, more of your favorites like Mountain Colors and Frog Tree, and some new renewables. New sock yarns for those that have devoured everything we had before. And some terriffic project classes. Come see the projects and look for the yarns Betsy and I have chosen. These project classes are a lot of fun, and no two people ever end up with the same sweater, just the same pattern and help with new techniques.

The Fair Isle Sweater is a great learning project for the techniques of Fair Isle (most famously, steeking) and show you how to do a hem, add a sleeve in continuous pattern and lots of other finishing flair, but without having to tye in all those ends.

So if you have been off quilting or gardening, or traveling for the summer, it's time to get back to the needles, for yourself, or to make memorable gifts to you family and freinds (the ones who apreciate them). Don't forget our dyeing workshop for both guilds on Sep 13. Come help me celebrate five years of Good Fibrations!

P.S - since our who web datafile crashed, please take a moment to re-enter your current email address above, to ensure that you keep getting the e-newsletter. Thank you. Knittin on the Edge of the Woods, Bethe
